I’ve decided that it’s time to retire the ‘Sketchbook’ column as a formal, regularly-scheduled thing.

Christmas Eve, 2020
The season looks different this year, and I know it’s going to be difficult for some of you. Whatever this time of year means to you, however it’s changed, I hope you’re able to find some joy—and a little bit of peace—in it.
Out of Office – September 2020
Another year, another storm.
This year, it’s Hurricane Teddy. The wind is starting to pick up, and the rain has started, but the storm itself isn’t going to hit until later today or overnight. (It’ll probably be a post-tropical storm at that point, but still strong.) I’m ready—everything’s tied down and all batteries are charged, I’ve got snacks and books—but as usual, I expect to lose power at some point.
Snapshot #158 | 10 Things for 26 July 2020
The last two weeks have been pretty good, all things considered. I’ve been: finishing | learning | making | working | feeling | organizing | hating | loving | revamping | looking
Snapshot #136 | 10 Things for 22 September 2019
It’s been an interesting couple of weeks. I’ve been: realizing | ordering | having | wishing | regrouping | turning | trying | solving | getting | starting
Electricity.
I’m back!
I hope. The power came back on for about an hour this morning, and just as I was starting to let my guard down—putting my phone on the charger, turning on the computer to write this post—it went out again. I still don’t entirely trust that it’s really back this time.
Out of Office – September 2019
Ok, so: Hurricane Dorian is heading this way. The rain’s already started.
Time may change me…
Hey, remember those ‘under construction’ gifs that used to be all over GeoCities? I kind of miss those days.
A brief scheduling note.
Things are going to be slow around here for the next two weeks. Regularly scheduled programming (snapshots, inspired) will continue as usual, and I’m not disappearing entirely, but I won’t be around very much, and there probably won’t be any posts outside the regular ones.
I’ll be back on January 7. In the meantime, Happy Holidays if you celebrate! I hope you have a fantastic few weeks!
A quick update to prove I haven’t abandoned you.
Things have been… scattered around here for the last couple of weeks, I know. Sorry about that.
